We keep the electric can opener in a cabinet, and bought this one to use once in a while instead. It works well enough for me, but no so much for Mrs. Spudman. She has a difficult time turning the handle on this opener and now either uses the electric or asks me to open a can for her.
This manual opener punctures most cans readily and for me isn't too difficult to turn. Can edges can be sharp and sometimes the opened lid stays attached to the can by a thin piece of metal.
No, this is not a state of the art manual can opener, but it's good enough to use on vacations, picnics, or electrical outages. The soft handles are comfortable and I like its red color.
